Twenty years ago, on January 24, 2001, Peter van Dernoot founded The Children’s Treehouse Foundation to serve an overlooked population in the cancer treatment world – the children of adult cancer patients. Today, the CLIMB® Program, Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery, can be found in 57 cancer centers and community organizations in the US and in 24 locations in 5 countries worldwide.
Please join us as we celebrate this landmark year in our history. There are a variety of ways you can join our celebration. Tell your family, friends, and colleagues about the valuable work we do and ask them to join you in helping us raise $20,000 during our 20th Anniversary year by getting 1000 $20.21 donations. Finally, you can help us build our organization for the next 20 years by identifying colleagues and community members that you think would great Board members for our nonprofit.
THE $20.21 CAMPAIGN TO RAISE $20,000.
Here’s what YOU CAN DO. You can tell everyone you know about the Children’s Treehouse Foundation and the CLIMB® Program that has served more than 16,000 children who have a parent or a grandparent with cancer over our 20 year history. Then ask them to donate $20.21 to our 20th Anniversary campaign to raise $20,000. Then, ask them to tell their family and friends to do the same thing. During our 20th Anniversary year we are looking for 1000 people to give us a $20.21 donation. That’s it, $20.21. Not a $200 donation or a $2000 donation, just $20.21. In January join the presentation of the first annual Sue P Heiney Award for Program Excellence which is awarded the the MD Anderson CLIMB® Program in Houston, Texas. The first-ever online CLIMB® Program starts on January 21st as well.
In February – February 4, 2021 is World Cancer Day and the $20.21 campaign begins that day.

On May 16th we will have a 20th Anniversary Celebration to thank all those who have supported us over twenty years and to invite new supporters who want to join us for another exciting 20 years ahead. In June The Association of Oncology Social Workers (AOSW) Annual Conference will be virtual so, our online training workshop for oncology professionals starts on May 3, 2021.
On October 9th the 5th Annual Colorado Hospital Chef’s Challenge will be held! In-person at Cielo in Castle Pines, if conditions permit. The 20th Anniversary will be a central focus. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind fundraising event!
