Executive Director, The Children’s Treehouse Foundation, Denver, CO
Denis comes to The Children’s Treehouse Foundation with a wealth of professional nonprofit and education experience. Most recently Denis spent nine years working in various roles, including Assistant Vice President for Strategic Alliances, at Regis University in Denver, CO forming local and international partnerships to help expand the reach of Regis’ robust online programs. Denis has experience working as Operations Director for a small nonprofit in Conifer, CO and as Director of Youth Services for one of the largest social service agencies in the country, Catholic Charities. Denis marks working as Coordinator and Executive Producer of Thematic Events for World Youth Day, the event that brought the Pope to Denver in 1993, as one of the highlights of his career to date.
Denis is married, has two young adult children and also serves on the Board of the Denver/Boulder BBB Foundation where he has helped develop their youth training in ethical decision-making called LIFT. Denis’ own history with cancer forges a natural affinity with the Children’s Treehouse Foundation. At age 15 Denis’ father died of pancreatic cancer and he and his 10 siblings did not have a CLIMB® Program to help navigate those challenging days. As an adult Denis also faced the reality of telling his own children about his melanoma diagnosis, again without a CLIMB® Program. The work of the Foundation fills a gap Denis is committed to seeing all families with children of a parent or grandparent who has cancer have the opportunity to benefit from.
